When Progress feels slow ... or non-existent...

I know how fortunate we are and how hard we have worked to be in our own home. However, I have been struggling a bit recently with continuing to be in a waiting phase.

As a teenager, if I had a big assignment due at school, I began my preparation for the assignment by having a clear out of my room. It was something that helped me focus. I am someone who is affected by my environment. I try not to be but it’s just a part of who I am.

This makes living in a building site difficult, especially when the work drags out for weeks and weeks longer than you expected. Our plasterers told us they could have the work done by move-in day, yet here we are over five weeks later without a deadline. It’s a mix of discovering issues that caused a delay in the work and them having other projects lined up. It’s nobody’s fault, it’s just how it is and we’re booking them in as much as we can. Work is currently on hold because of the heat wave and the effect heat has on plaster. It can be hard to stay positive when there is a layer of dust over everything and you feel like you are fighting a losing battle when cleaning.

I am focusing my time on the room we have made the most progress on - our bedroom. Our own little space to escape and relax at the end of the day. I posted a couple of photographs on Instagram of our bedroom which has been plastered and painted. It has come a long way from the green carpet and pink and silver floral wallpaper.

I have fallen in love with Coat Paints brand and we have used ‘Screenshot’ and ‘Hamilton’ to decorate this room. We are waiting for another bedroom to be plastered before we remove the furniture and sort the flooring. I also need to order some ‘screenshot’ in eggshell to paint the woodwork in the room.

We still have a long way to go and lots still to do in the bedroom (let alone the rest of the house). It’s a challenge we’re up for and we’re learning a lot already.
